A fire breaks out in a neighbor's home.  Someone makes that frantic 911 call for help.  As the alarms go off, firefighters throughout the community respond to the call.  When the engine pulls into the driveway, firefighters rush out to attack the blaze.  Through teamwork and skill, the fire is knocked down.  This is what it is like to be a member of the Iola & Rural Fire Department.

The proud tradition of firefighting dates back hundreds of year.  Although the equipment and methods we use to fight fires have progressed through the years, the history and pride that comes with the job is always there.  You can be a part of that rich tradition by joining our department.

As a member of the Iola & Rural Fire Department, you will be part of a family who works together to assure that the members of our community are safe.  We will train you so that you can work as a member of our team as we respond to structure fires, motor vehicle accidents, wildland fires, rescue operations, HAZMAT operations, and much more.

We would love to talk to you about what it is like to be a firefighter on the Iola & Rural Fire Department.  Find out how you can help serve and protect the community you live in while being a part of something larger - that firefighting tradition.
